Usage Analytics

Last updated 19 September 2026.

1. Your choice

Room8 uses Mixpanel to understand which features people use, where they encounter difficulties, and how we can improve usability and reliability.

Usage analytics is on by default, including before you sign in or create an account. You can turn it off using Share usage analytics during signup or in Settings. Your choice is separate from accepting the Terms of Service. Turning it off does not prevent you from using Room8’s core features.

The preference applies to this device. It is preserved across app restarts, sign-in and sign-out. A reinstall or a different device may start with analytics enabled again. Events that occur while analytics is disabled are discarded; they are not replayed if you turn it back on.

2. What analytics includes

Analytics can include:

  • Screens viewed and interactions with features, such as opening the calendar or a settings page.
  • Event times and limited feature context, such as a selected tab, an onboarding step, or whether an operation succeeded.
  • Technical information, such as app version, operating system and device information.
  • Analytics identifiers and, when signed in, your internal Room8 account ID.

An internal ID can link events to an account, so this information is not anonymous. Mixpanel also receives connection information, such as an IP address, when your device communicates with it.

3. What we exclude

We do not include names, email addresses, message contents, household street addresses, search text, photos, receipts, or financial content in analytics events. Viewing a conversation can generate a screen-view event; the text of that conversation is not included.

This integration does not enable session replay or automatic interaction capture. We do not use Mixpanel for targeted advertising or sell analytics information.

4. Who processes it

Mixpanel processes these events on Room8’s behalf. Our project uses Mixpanel’s United States data region. See Mixpanel’s privacy information and the Room8 Privacy Policy.

5. Previously collected information

Turning analytics off stops future optional analytics collection on that device. It does not erase events already collected.

Deleting your Room8 account does not currently automatically delete historical Mixpanel records. Analytics retention depends on the project retention settings and applicable deletion requests. An opt-out is not a deletion request.

To ask about or request deletion of analytics associated with your account, email support@room8.xyz with the subject “Privacy request”. We may need to verify account ownership to locate the appropriate records. Do not send your password or verification codes.

6. Essential service operations

The usage analytics switch controls optional Mixpanel tracking. It does not disable the account, authentication, security, or operational processing needed to run Room8, as described in our Privacy Policy.
